Z-Pier at Westhaven is where you come when you want to go boating. It's the gateway to the Hauraki Gulf and beyond, for many thousands of people every year.

Z-Pier is the commercial heart of Westhaven Marina, which is the biggest marina in the Southern Hemisphere, home to more than 2,000 yachts of all kinds, four yacht clubs, and an iconic part of Auckland's waterfront. Across the bay is Silo Marina, a specialist facility for superyachts, and the Viaduct Marina in Auckland's entertainment precinct. Westhaven also offers many opportunities to go boating, even when you don't have a boat of your own to enjoy.

Sailability provides accessible opportunities for anyone with disabilities, to learn how to sail, and to race competitively. Sailability maintains a boat compound at Z-Pier, and the programme's sailors can be seen out training, throughout summer and winter.

Etchells race yachts are true one-design yachts that are embraced by top sailors as a way of pitting their skills against one another, in a true test of sailing mastership in which the boats are as close to identical as possible, making tactics and skill the determinant of race success. The fleet is based at Z-Pier and trains and races regularly.

Paddling dragonboats as part of a team is great fun, and great exercise. Based out of Z-Pier, and using the sheltered St Mary's Bay and the waters outside of Westhaven Marina as training grounds, the Auckland Dragonboats Association runs events and coaching. It's a great way to hit the water and be as social or as competitive as you like.
