Marina cadet programme update

Our marina cadet programme remains a cornerstone of our commitment to workforce development and succession planning. Designed to nurture talent and equip aspiring marina professionals with essential skills, the programme strengthens our team and ensures we’re prepared for the future.

As part of this initiative, we recently welcomed Georgia Dresner to the programme. Originally from Tauranga, Georgia has lived in Auckland for the past two years and has a deep-rooted passion for life on the water. A lifelong sailor, she grew up sailing with her family and enjoys recreational racing as part of a crew. Before joining us, she also gained valuable maritime experience working onboard Fullers360 ferries.

Now well into her cadetship, Georgia has been gaining hands-on experience at Viaduct Marina, expanding her skills, and exploring the many career opportunities within the marina industry. In the coming months, she will transition to Westhaven Marina, where she will continue to develop her expertise as part of our team.

The origins of the Start Tower date back to 1956 when the construction of the Auckland Harbour Bridge created challenges for yachts navigating the area. To address these risks, the Auckland Harbour Board built a walkway over the Westhaven seawall and established a shared Starters Box. This allowed clubs to efficiently run races without endangering yachts. Read More
