Maintenance update March 2025

Ongoing and completed maintenance work

Pier gangways update:

All gangways in Westhaven have now been fitted with safety panel modifications, except for the Riviera sales pier. This installation will be coordinated with Riviera at a time that best suits their business operations.

Pier refurbishment

  • A pier: Refurbishment of the floating structure is now complete.
  • Q pier: Upgrades are currently underway.
  • Marina piles: We continue to replace degraded piles throughout the marina.
  • X pier: Refurbishment work on X pier has recently begun. The project includes replacing all steel and timber components and sleeving all piles.

L pier renewal

L pier is undergoing a full refurbishment to ensure long-term safety and functionality for berth holders. This project includes:

  • Removal of all existing pier components, including piles.
  • Installation of new piles, walkways, finger pontoons, power pedestals, fire hose reels, and other essential infrastructure.

The deconstruction phase is nearing completion and the arrival of new pontoons and piles is expected soon. The project is on track for completion in June 2024.

V pier T-head reconfiguration

We have begun removing the old decking from the T-head of V pier. This deck was previously used for dinghy storage for pile-moored vessels, but similar to U pier, its steel substructure has reached the end of its lifespan. The old structure is being removed and the T-head will be restored to its original function.

Security update: Emergency door release

All pier doors at Westhaven are fitted with Emergency Door Release (EDR) buttons to ensure safe exit in emergencies. However, these are sometimes triggered incorrectly – either accidentally or intentionally when a fob is forgotten – which creates security risks by leaving doors open.

To address this, we have fitted the EDRs with breakable seals. These seals are designed to be easily snapped in an emergency but serve as a deterrent for non-essential use. Please remember that EDRs should only be used in emergencies.

Upcoming project

Y pier waler replacement – starting May

We will begin replacing the timber walers on Y pier in May. This work will be carried out in stages, and we will contact Y pier berth holders in advance to coordinate vessel relocations.

We appreciate your patience and support as we continue to improve our marina facilities.
